Are you witnessing any change in your dog’s behavior or not liking the food or showing less active mood? Then it can be an indication to you to check if your dog is suffering from fever or has any illness. Many a time it has been observed that dog’s fever goes unrecognized as they cannot speak their suffering. Do not mistake it by comparing your dog’s body temperature with human temperature. Their normal body temperature is higher than human body temperature. But if you see the temperature goes higher than 102 F then it may be suffering from fever. Causes of the Fever: Every time it is impossible to detect the definite cause for your dog suffering from fever. These are few causes through which you can determine the fever of your dog: Infection: Dogs get infection from various things consisting lungs, fungal and viral diseases. Symptoms will be seen depending on the infected area. A fungal disease affects the various part of the body. Toxin: Intake of toxic food can also lead to your dog suffering from various illnesses. Dogs have the habit of picking anything they see around or on ground within their reach. Keep your dog away from toxic food like alcohol, plants as some plants are harmful to your dogs, antifreeze, and toxic human food. Vaccination: Often it has been observed that dog suffers a low temperature after they get their periodical vaccination. It is recommended to keep a watch on your dog for around 48 hours after the vaccination. Sometimes, the exact cause of fever goes undetected. It can be an indication of infected immunity system. Home Remedy: If you see the temperature is increasing higher than 102 F then you can use a rectal thermometer. Be aware that dog’s thermometer and human thermometer are both different. Check the rating: If the temperature remains in between 100 to 102 F then it is a normal body temperature of your dog. But if it is elevating more than 102 F then your dog has a fever. Consult your veterinarian: If you are unable to control the temperature of your dog and is climbing more than 104 F then a visit to your vet is required. The climbing temperature of 106 F can cause severe organ damage to your dog. Your vet may perform some reports to check the overall health of your dog.
