National dog day is an occasion cherished by dog parents and lovers all around the world. Celebrated on Aug 26th annually after being founded in the year 2004, it represents an opportunity to draw the attention of the masses towards the plight of dogs all around us while encouraging the adoption of all those unfortunate Fido’s that do not enjoy the love and care they deserve. There are several celebrities as well like Ryan Seacrest, Ellen DeGeneres who enjoy a very close bond with their furry companions. For many of them, dogs represent an inseparable part of their lives with the love and affection behind every single gesture an accurate indication of that. Considering this, it is no surprise to see the active involvement on the part of celebrities in activities like the National Dog Day. Let’s take a look at five exciting ways in which celebrities have participated in the national dog day celebrations over the years: Hilary Swank The 44-year-old Hollywood actress who is well known for her roles in movies like Boys don’t cry, Million dollar baby, P.S I love you posted an image on her official Instagram account with her beloved dog Rumi. She further encouraged all the dog lovers out there to adopt and foster dogs rather than shopping as it could save the lives of dogs desperately in need of some much-needed care. Sarah Michelle Gellar The actress shared a beautiful image with her dog Bella whom she described as a Bernese mountain dog, labelling him as the biggest lap dog in the world. Gellar wished all the dog lovers and parents a very happy national dog day as well before further sharing insights into her bond shared with dogs over the years. Her first puppy was a Maltese dog called Thor who was surprisingly a huge lover of artisanal beer. She further discussed a glorious relationship with her dog Tyson, who she described as one of the smartest dogs she had ever met in her life. Carrie Underwood The famous singer shared an image of her two adopted dogs Ace and Penny describing them as little fur bundles of joy. She joyfully described them as naughty, crazy and noisy before adding that it didn’t matter as she still loved them. Underwood further encouraged all the pet parents to adopt and rescue dogs that are helpless and need our assistance as much as possible. Lisa Vanderpump The “Real Housewives of OC” actress has always loved dogs throughout her life which is evident from a large number of dogs owned by her. Vanderpump recently established her foundation called “The Vanderpump Dog Foundation” which works towards rescuing dogs who have been abandoned and ensuring a better world for dogs out there. The actress decided to raise awareness by organizing an awareness campaign on National Dog Day aimed at making people aware and sensitive towards the problems faced by dogs on a regular basis. Ryan Seacrest The famous host and producer shared an image with his dog Georgia describing her as his best friend. He further wished everyone a very happy national dog day with the two seemingly out on a regular run in the park.
