The symptoms range from minor and undiagnosed to most critical ones as well. Felines easily attract the intestinal infections by coming in contact with the eggs and larval form of the worms. This happens by accidentally stepping onto the feces or while self-grooming when the cats have eggs attached to her coat. The cause is not just because of the outside factors but also genetic reasons when an infected mother passes the larval form of worms to the kitten. The various causes help in the prevention when you know what species of worm has infected the feline’s body. There are various kinds of intestinal worms like: Roundworms: It is the most usual forms of internal parasites that affect the cats. The adult roundworms can easily be identified as their structure is similar to spaghetti. They are generally 3-4 inches long. The roundworms reside in the cat’s intestines and sucks up the nutrients from the cat’s diet leaving her sick and weak. Cats infected by roundworms depict signs like vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, appetite loss, weight loss etc. Hookworms: These worms in comparison to roundworms are much smaller and are residents of the small intestines in the felines. Hookworms feed on the pet’s blood that can prove to be fatal for her health. Hookworm eggs pass through the stool and hatch into larvae. The ingestion of these eggs can be infectious for the feline’s digestive system and well-being. Tapeworms: Tapeworms are flat and long parasites with segmented body structure ranging from 4 to 28 inches in length.
